How to Get Obsidian Quickly Without a Diamond Pickaxe Grind

Mining obsidian normally requires a diamond pickaxe and is slow, which makes large obsidian builds painful. Essentials Mod provides a faster route to obtaining obsidian so you can stockpile it for portals, farms, and decoration.

Producing Obsidian Faster

1. Set up the mod's obsidian-generating method — typically a block or machine that converts lava and water into obsidian without you mining each block by hand.

2. Feed it the required inputs (lava source and water source, or the mod's designated catalyst, depending on the block).

3. Collect the output obsidian from the machine's output side into a chest.

4. Repeat or expand the setup to increase yield per hour.

Tips for Scaling Up

Run your obsidian production next to an existing lava farm or a lava lake so you never run short of the lava input. Use the mod's faster hoppers to pull obsidian out of the machine into storage automatically. If you are building a large obsidian structure, produce a few stacks before you start so you are not waiting mid-build. Keep the machine chunk-loaded if you want it running while you are away, and check the output chest periodically so it does not fill and stall.
