Catching Catfish

Catfish spawn in freshwater rivers and lakes. Use a fishing rod to catch them, or find them swimming in deeper water sections. They're more common in certain biomes, so explore different river systems if you're having trouble finding them.

Butchering on a Meathook

Craft or place a meathook block in your base. Catch a catfish and bring it back. Interact with the meathook while holding the catfish to butcher it into fresh filets.

Alternative: Roasting Whole

If you don't have a meathook available, you can cook catfish whole over a fire or furnace instead. This gives you cooked fish directly without needing to butcher. The meathook method is more efficient if you're processing multiple fish for your food supply.
