Starting a Charged Heavy Attack

Heavy attacks deal increased damage, poise damage, and stance damage. Hold down your attack skill key (default varies by setup) to begin charging. You'll see your character enter a charging animation.

Release Timing

Release the key to swing. The longer you charge, the more powerful the hit. Fully charged attacks deal the most damage but leave you vulnerable, so use them when enemies are recovering or at range.

Chaining Heavy Attacks

Immediately after your first heavy attack lands, start charging a second heavy attack right away. If timed correctly, you'll unlock a fluid follow-up heavy attack with enhanced animation and damage. This creates a devastating combo chain.

Energy Arcs

If your weapon has a magic, holy, or legendary affinity, charged heavy attacks fire energy projectiles. These arcs travel toward enemies, letting you damage foes from distance. Experiment with different reforged affinities to see which projectile effects suit your playstyle.
