How to Use the Revamped Elytra in Survival Gameplay

What Changes in Practice

Functionally, nothing. The Elytra still needs firework rockets to boost and still drains durability per second of flight. What changes is readability: because the wings now match the Ender Dragon, you can spot a fellow player gliding from much farther away, and your own silhouette in third person reads as dragon-like.

Survival Workflow

1. Prioritize getting an Elytra from an End Ship before worrying about aesthetics — the pack does not add a crafting route.

2. Carry plenty of firework rockets; the visual upgrade does not reduce rocket consumption.

3. Keep spare membranes or a mending setup, since flight still wears the Elytra down.

4. When fighting the dragon, the shared wing design makes it easier to judge your glide path relative to the boss's wings.

Multiplayer Notes

On servers, every player needs the pack locally for the new wings to appear on their screen. One player having it does not change what others see. If a server pushes its own pack, it may override this one, so check your pack order after joining. In PvP or minigame servers, the brighter wing silhouette can make you easier to track mid-air — worth remembering if you rely on gliding to escape.
