How to Plan an Enchancement Build Around Your Playstyle

Why Planning Matters

Enchancement's enchantments are more impactful and more situational than vanilla ones. Slapping random enchantments on gear wastes XP and leaves you with a build that does not excel at anything. Decide what you actually do most in your world before enchanting.

Build Archetypes

Explorer / Cave Diver

  • Helmet: Perception (see in the dark, spot mobs through walls)
  • Chestplate: Amphibious (underwater speed, breath, fire resistance)
  • Focus on surviving long trips away from base.

Stealth / Speedrunner

  • Helmet: Veil (mobs detect you later, name hidden)
  • Chestplate: Strafe (burst movement, air control)
  • Focus on avoiding fights and moving fast.

General Survivalist

  • Helmet: Assimilation (auto-eat, faster consumption)
  • Chestplate: Amphibious or Strafe depending on your biome
  • Focus on reducing micromanagement.

Step-by-Step Planning

1. List your three most common activities (mining, fighting, exploring, building).

2. Match each armor slot's enchantment to those activities.

3. Check the mod's full enchantment list — there are many beyond helmets and chestplates — and note which slot each belongs to.

4. Bank enough XP for the full set before you start, so you are not stuck half-enchanted.

5. Test the build in a low-risk area before taking it into dangerous content.

Rerolling and Adjusting

Because Enchancement lets you choose enchantments rather than gamble, you can rebuild your set whenever your goals change. Keep spare armor pieces enchanted for different roles so you can swap without re-grinding XP.
