How to Open and Close Rifts

Opening Rifts Manually

You can tear open dimensional rifts on any wall or floor surface using your rift manipulation power. Focus your psychic ability on a block surface for three seconds to create a portal. This allows you to:

• Access the Upside Down dimension intentionally
• Create escape routes during combat
• Explore dark mirror versions of your world

Closing Rifts

Rifts also tear open randomly near your base and throughout the world as part of The Awakening. Use your rift manipulation power to seal these portals and prevent creatures from crossing into the Overworld. Regularly patrol your base perimeter and seal any rifts you discover.

Strategic Use

Managing rifts is crucial for survival. Seal rifts near your base to reduce monster spawns, but opening rifts strategically can help you escape deadly situations or gather resources from the dark dimension. Monitor your surroundings—flickering torches indicate dark forces are near, often accompanied by newly opened rifts.
