How to Fix Colored Flames Not Showing Up
First Checks
If burning mobs still show plain orange flames, work through the basics before assuming something is broken. Dyed Flames is client-side and visual only, so most problems come down to data, not gameplay.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Confirm the mod is actually loaded on your client — check your mod list.
2. Make sure the mob is burning from a fire source that has a color defined. Default vanilla fire has no special tint, so orange is expected there.
3. If you added your own JSON, verify the file is in the correct data pack folder and that the block or fluid ID matches exactly.
4. Run /reload after any JSON change; edits won't apply until the data reloads.
5. Check that your data pack is enabled for the world you're testing in.
Common Causes
- A typo in the block ID means the definition never matches, so the fire falls back to default.
- A data pack placed in the wrong folder is silently ignored.
- Testing with vanilla fire instead of soul fire or a defined custom source will always look normal.
If It Still Won't Work
Try a fresh test world with only this mod and your data pack enabled. If colors appear there, another mod or data pack is likely overriding the same fire definitions.
