How to Add Your Own Custom Fire Color with JSON

Where Fire Types Are Defined

The mod is fully data-driven, which means each fire type gets its own JSON definition rather than being hardcoded. You add a new entry by creating or editing a JSON file in your data pack, following the same structure the mod already uses for vanilla fire and soul fire.

Writing a New Fire Type

1. Create a data pack in your world's datapacks folder if you don't already have one.

2. Inside it, build the folder path the mod expects for its fire definitions (mirror the namespace and folder layout used by the mod's own built-in files).

3. Copy an existing fire definition as a starting point so you keep the correct field names.

4. Point the definition at the fire block or fluid you want to recolor, and set the color value for the flame and smoke.

5. Save the file, then run /reload so the game picks up the new data without a restart.

Testing Your Entry

Light the fire source you referenced and push a mob into it. If the particles stay default-colored, double-check that the block ID in your JSON matches the block exactly and that the file sits in the right folder. Because everything is data-driven, you can add as many fire types as you like without touching the mod itself.
