Finding and Entering the Ancient Keep

Locating the Keep Map

Your first step is finding a Keep Map, which acts as your guide to the Ancient Keep's location. Travel to the nearest Ancient City in your world—these generate naturally in the Deep Dark biome. Search through the chests scattered throughout the Ancient City until you find a Keep Map.

Following the Map to the Keep

Once you have the Keep Map in your inventory, open it to see the location marked on your screen. The map will point you toward an underground fortress structure. Travel to the coordinates indicated and look for the entrance to the Ancient Keep—a large stone structure built into the deepslate layer.

Enter through the main entrance and prepare for combat. The Keep contains multiple interconnected rooms and chambers, so take note of passages and junctions as you explore. You'll encounter your first enemy encounters almost immediately, so bring armor, weapons, and healing items before entering.

Preparing for Entry

Bring at least iron-tier equipment or better. Stock up on food and consider bringing blocks for navigation. The Keep is dark, so torches or night vision potions are helpful for exploration.
