How to Tame Your First Dragon
Finding and Approaching Dragons
Dragons spawn naturally throughout your world. Approach slowly and avoid sudden movements, as dragons will flee or attack if startled. Different dragon types have different temperaments—smaller dragons like Terrible Terrors are easier to tame than Night Furies.
Starting the Taming Process
Interact with the dragon repeatedly using raw meat or fish. Each successful interaction builds trust. Watch for the taming progress bar that appears above the dragon's head—this shows how close you are to success. The bar fills gradually as the dragon becomes friendlier.
Completing the Tame
Continue feeding and interacting until the progress bar fills completely. Once tamed, the dragon will stop fleeing and accept you as its rider. You'll see a visual change indicating the dragon is now yours.
Tips for Success
- Stay patient; taming takes time and multiple interactions
- Bring plenty of food to avoid running out mid-tame
- Tame dragons in safe areas away from hostile mobs
- Night Furies are significantly harder to tame and should be attempted later in your playthrough
