How to Track a Dragon After the Radar Finds It

Following the Needle

When the Dragon Radar locks onto a dragon, the needle points toward it instead of spinning. Treat it like a compass: walk in the direction the needle indicates and check it often, because the bearing updates as you move. The needle always points at the dragon's current location, so you can use it to close distance even across long stretches of terrain.

Understanding the Counter-Clockwise Spin

If the needle starts spinning counter-clockwise, that is a specific signal: you are aligned with the dragon on the X and Z axes but not on Y. In plain terms, you are directly above or below it. This usually means the dragon is in a cave, ravine, or underground lair beneath you, or that you are standing on a cliff or in the air above it. Stop moving horizontally and start adjusting your altitude.

Adjusting Your Altitude

  • Dig down or find a cave entrance if you suspect the dragon is below you.
  • Build up or climb if the reading suggests it is above.
  • Once your Y level matches the dragon's, the needle should settle back into a steady point instead of spinning.

Staying on Target

Keep the radar equipped while you travel so you never lose the bearing. If the needle returns to a clockwise idle spin, the dragon has either moved out of range or is no longer being detected, so reposition and scan again.
