How to Scan for Dragons Within Range Using the Dragon Radar
Activating a Scan
Hold the Dragon Radar in your hand and use it the way you would a compass. While it is idle, the needle spins clockwise, which means it is not currently locked onto anything. A scan sweeps outward from your position and looks for any dragon inside the configured detection radius. By default that radius reaches out to 15,000 blocks, but the config can be edited to extend it further if your world is large enough to need it.
Reading the Result
Once a dragon is found, the needle stops spinning freely and instead points steadily toward the target. Keep the radar in your hand and watch the needle as you move; it will keep updating to point at the dragon's current position. If no dragon is detected, the needle simply keeps spinning clockwise, which tells you nothing is inside range right now. Remember that dragons with zero HP are filtered out, so a spinning needle does not always mean the area is empty of dragon remains.
Practical Tips
- Move to higher ground or open terrain before scanning, since the radar only cares about horizontal and vertical alignment, not line of sight.
- If you are hunting a specific dragon, scan repeatedly as you travel so you do not overshoot its position.
- A glitched dragon may still register until its bones are harvested, so do not assume a reading is a live threat.
