How to Configure the Dragon Radar's Detection Range

Where the Range Comes From

The Dragon Radar scans for dragons up to 15,000 blocks away by default. That figure is not fixed; it is controlled by the mod's config, so you can raise or lower it depending on how you play. A larger range is useful on sprawling worlds where dragons roam far apart, while a smaller range keeps the radar focused on your immediate surroundings.

Editing the Config

Locate the mod's config file in your instance's config folder and open it with a text editor. Find the entry that controls the radar's detection distance and change the value to the range you want. Save the file and reload the game or the world so the new setting takes effect. Because the exact key name and accepted values can vary, read the comments in the file rather than guessing at a number.

Choosing a Sensible Range

  • Very large ranges can make the radar pick up distant dragons you have no intention of visiting, which clutters your readings.
  • Very small ranges may cause the needle to spin idle even when a dragon is nearby but just outside the limit.
  • Pair a long range with the type, stage, gender, and distance filters so the radar only reports targets you actually want.

Verifying the Change

After reloading, scan from a known position. If the needle now reacts to a dragon it previously ignored, your new range is active. If nothing changes, recheck that you edited the correct config and saved it.
