Finding and Mining Deepslate Ore

Where Deepslate Ore Spawns

Deepslate ore generates below Y-level 0 in the mod's expanded underground. You'll find deepslate versions of all standard ores—copper, iron, diamond, and others—mixed throughout the dark stone layers. The deeper you go toward negative coordinates, the more common deepslate ore becomes.

Mining Deepslate Ore

Deepslate ore requires a stone pickaxe or better to mine successfully. Using your bare hand or wood tools will break the block without dropping anything. Iron or diamond pickaxes work best and mine faster.

When you break deepslate ore, it drops the raw ore material (raw copper, raw iron, etc.), not the ore block itself. Collect these raw materials and smelt them in a furnace or blast furnace to get ingots.

Pro Tips

Bring plenty of torches when exploring deep—the caves are dark and dangerous. Watch for lava pools, which are common in the deep underground. Consider mining in a systematic pattern to avoid getting lost in the massive cave systems. Deepslate ore is more abundant than surface ores, so you can gather large quantities if you explore thoroughly.
