How to Level the Mining Skill Tree Fast

The mining tree gains experience from breaking stone and ores, so the goal is to break as many valid blocks as possible in the shortest time.

Choosing Where to Mine

Strip mining at a low Y level gives you long tunnels of stone plus occasional ore veins, both of which feed the tree. Branch mining (a main tunnel with side branches every few blocks) exposes more ore per block mined than a single straight shaft. Bring torches, a good pickaxe, and blocks to bridge gaps.

Maximizing Blocks Per Minute

Enchant your pickaxe with Efficiency and Unbreaking so you swing faster and repair less often. Haste from a beacon or potion stacks on top of this. Avoid stopping to fight every mob; only engage what blocks your tunnel. If you have access to explosives that still drop blocks, they can clear large volumes quickly, but confirm the drops count before relying on them.

Spending Mining Points

Mining trees usually offer nodes for mining speed, ore yield, or durability. Put early points into speed so you break more blocks per session, which in turn earns more experience and points. Revisit the tree whenever you level up so you are always mining with your full bonuses active.
