How to Make Default Dark Mode Work on a Server or With Friends

Default Dark Mode is a client-side resource pack, so it only changes what *you* see. Other players won't see a darker interface unless they install it themselves.

Using It on a Multiplayer Server

1. Join the server as normal. Resource packs are applied on your client, so nothing needs to be enabled server-side.

2. If the server forces its own resource pack, it may override Default Dark Mode. Open your resource pack list and move Default Dark Mode above the server pack so it takes priority.

3. If the server pack is required and locked, you may not be able to reorder it. In that case, ask the server owner to allow client packs, or play on a server that doesn't force one.

Sharing With Friends

  • Send them the pack file directly, or point them to the same download source you used.
  • Everyone who wants the dark look must enable it in their own resource pack menu.
  • There is no server-side toggle — it's purely per-player.

Common Gotcha

If your HUD looks dark but a friend's doesn't, that's expected. The pack changes only the local client's rendering of menus, HUD, and interface elements.
