How to Combine Default Dark Mode With Other Resource Packs
Default Dark Mode plays well with most packs, but ordering matters because resource packs stack from the bottom up — the top pack wins for any file both packs touch.
Setting the Right Order
1. Open Options, then Resource Packs.
2. Place Default Dark Mode above texture packs that don't touch the GUI (blocks, items, mobs) — order doesn't matter for those, but keeping it high avoids surprises.
3. Place it above any pack that also edits GUI or HUD textures if you want the dark look to win.
4. Place it below a pack if you prefer that pack's interface style and only want Default Dark Mode to fill in the gaps.
What Combines Cleanly
- Block, item, and entity texture packs: no conflict.
- Sound packs: no conflict.
- Font packs: usually fine, since they touch different files.
What Conflicts
- Other GUI/dark-mode packs: only one will show.
- Full UI overhaul packs: they replace the same files, so you'll see one style or the other, not a blend.
Tip
After reordering, always click Done and let the game reload resources so you can see the real result before judging.
