How to Manage DeadChests with Permissions and WorldGuard

Permissions Basics

DeadChest uses a permission system so you can decide who may open private chests, who may bypass timers, and who may administer chests. Assign the admin-level permission only to trusted staff, since it lets them open any deadchest regardless of owner. Regular players should have only the default permissions needed to spawn and open their own chests.

WorldGuard Integration

With WorldGuard support enabled, deadchest placement respects region rules. In protected regions, chests may be blocked from spawning or may require specific flags. Test by dying inside a protected area and confirming whether a chest appears. If it does not, check the region flags and the plugin's world management settings together, since both can influence the outcome.

World and Item Management

You can restrict which worlds allow deadchests and filter which items are saved. If a world is excluded, dying there will not create a chest. Item management lets you prevent certain items from being stored, which is useful for keeping exploit-prone or quest items out of death chests.

Gamemode Rules

Gamemode management lets you define different behavior for survival, creative, and other modes. For example, you might disable chests entirely in creative. Review these settings alongside permissions so the rules stay consistent across your server.
