Using DarkZoom Without Installing Anything on Your Client

How the Server-Side Design Works

One of the main conveniences of DarkZoom is that it runs server-side. That means players connecting to a server that has the mod do not need to download or install anything themselves. You join with a normal, unmodified client and the zoom feature is still available to you through the /trigger darkzoom command.

What This Means in Practice

  • No client mod loader required. You can play on the server with a completely vanilla client and still zoom.
  • Everyone gets the same behavior. Because the effect is driven by the server, all players experience the zoom the same way.
  • The server owner controls availability. If the mod is not on the server, no client-side installation will add the command for you.

Getting Started as a Player

Simply join the server and type /trigger darkzoom while looking at the area you want to magnify. There is nothing to configure on your end. If the command is unrecognized, the server does not have the mod active — check with the server operator rather than trying to install something locally, since a client-side install alone will not enable a server-side trigger.
