How to Zoom Repeatedly to Scout Terrain and Spot Mobs
Chaining Zoom Triggers
Because the zoom only lasts a brief time, the practical way to use DarkZoom for scouting is to fire the trigger over and over. Stand still, aim at the horizon or a distant structure, then run /trigger darkzoom. While the zoom is active, sweep your mouse slowly across the area you want to inspect. When it snaps back to normal view, immediately run /trigger darkzoom again and continue from where you left off.
Tips for Effective Scouting
- Aim first, trigger second. The zoom magnifies your current view direction, so set your crosshair on the target before typing the command.
- Use it from high ground. Zooming from a hill or tower lets you cover far more terrain per activation than zooming at ground level.
- Watch for mobs at range. Zooming toward dark caves, village outskirts, or treelines helps you spot hostile mobs before they spot you.
- Pair it with a map or coordinates. Note roughly where you saw something, then travel there normally.
Since the effect is short, treat each trigger as a single "look" rather than a sustained telescope. Players who spam the command in quick succession get a stuttery but usable continuous zoom, which is handy for tracking a moving target like a distant player or animal.
