How to Land Safely After Flying with DarkFlight
Understanding the Landing Mechanic
DarkFlight is designed so you never need to worry about a rough touchdown. When the levitation from /trigger flight expires, the mod automatically applies a Slow Falling effect to you. This means you descend at a reduced rate and take no fall damage, even from a high altitude.
What to Do During Descent
You do not need to press anything special to land safely — the effect handles it. However, a few habits make landings smoother:
- Stop moving horizontally if possible. Drifting into a wall or over a cliff during descent can still put you somewhere awkward.
- Aim for open ground. Slow Falling gives you time to steer with your movement keys, so use that window to line up a clear landing spot.
- Avoid landing in water or lava if you can help it. Slow Falling does not protect against environmental hazards, only fall damage.
Stacking triggers mid-descent can behave unpredictably.
If you somehow lose the Slow Falling effect (for example, by drinking a milk bucket), you will fall normally and can take damage. Keep milk out of your hotbar during flights.
With a little practice, you can chain flights across long distances by landing, re-triggering, and gliding onward.
