Finding and Identifying a Specific Minecraft Song You Heard

Catch the name in the moment

The mod's whole purpose is to save you from hunting through the soundtrack afterwards. When a track catches your ear, glance at the overlay as soon as it appears — it shows the track's name at the start of playback. If you miss it, the overlay will not reappear for that same track until the game starts it again, so it pays to keep half an eye on the corner of the screen where you placed it.

Make it easier to catch

  • Increase the overlay's display duration in the config so the name lingers long enough to read and write down.
  • Position the overlay somewhere in your normal field of view rather than a corner you rarely look at.
  • If you're actively listening for a track, avoid other music sources (resource packs that replace music, or external players) so what you hear matches what the mod reports.

After you have the name

Write the exact title down or screenshot the overlay. With the precise track name in hand, you can look it up directly instead of sampling the whole soundtrack. Note that the mod identifies music the game itself plays; sounds from jukeboxes, note blocks, or other mods are a different category and may not be reported the same way.
