Updating Cucumber Safely Without Breaking Your Other Mods

Because Cucumber is a shared library, updating it can affect every mod that depends on it. Doing it carelessly is a good way to turn a working pack into a crashing one. This guide walks through a safe update routine.

Before You Update

Write down which mods in your pack list Cucumber as a dependency. You can find this on each mod's page or in its metadata. Then back up your world and your mods folder. If you are on a modpack, check whether the pack pins a specific Cucumber build — overriding it can cause mismatches.

The Update Routine

1. Remove the old Cucumber file from your mods folder.

2. Add the new build that matches your Minecraft version and loader.

3. Launch the game and watch the loading screen and log for dependency warnings.

4. Load into a test world before opening your main save.

5. If a dependent mod now errors, either revert Cucumber to the previous build or update that dependent mod to a version compatible with the new library.

When to Hold Back

If everything currently works, there is rarely a reason to update a library on its own. Update Cucumber when a mod you want requires a newer version, or when a pack update brings it along. Chasing the newest library build for its own sake mostly invites breakage, since you gain no new content from it.
