Fixing a Crash Caused by a Missing Cucumber Dependency
A very common reason players go looking for Cucumber is that the game crashed and the log mentioned it. Usually the message is not that Cucumber itself is broken, but that some other mod could not find it. Here is how to read that situation and resolve it.
Reading the Crash Log
Look for lines mentioning Cucumber near the top of the crash report or in the latest log. You will typically see wording about a missing or unsatisfied dependency, or a mod declaring that it requires Cucumber. Note which mod is complaining — that is the mod you actually want to use, and Cucumber is its support library.
Resolving It
1. Make sure Cucumber is present in your mods folder at all. It is easy to forget because it adds no content.
2. Make sure it is the correct build for your Minecraft version and mod loader. A Fabric build will not satisfy a Forge mod, and vice versa.
3. If both are present, check that the dependent mod is not asking for a newer Cucumber than you have. Update Cucumber to the latest build matching your game version.
4. Restart and check the log again. If the dependency error is gone but a new error appears, that is a separate problem with the dependent mod.
Avoiding It Next Time
When you add a mod, read its dependencies section before launching. Install every required library at the same time, and update libraries whenever you update the mods that rely on them.
