Making the Cubic Sun and Moon Work With Shaders and Sky Mods

Understand Who Wins the Sky

Shaders and sky mods take over sky rendering, and whichever one runs last decides what you see. Cubic Sun & Moon only supplies the sun and moon textures, so it needs those other systems to leave the celestial bodies alone. If your shader replaces the sun and moon, the cubes disappear no matter how you order the resource pack.

Set Up Compatibility

Work through this order:

1. Enable Cubic Sun & Moon in Options → Resource Packs and place it at the top of the *Selected* column.

2. Open Video Settings → Shaders and pick a shader that does not force its own sun/moon textures. Many shader packs have a toggle for custom celestial bodies — turn it off so the pack's cubes show through.

3. If you run a sky-enhancement mod, check its config for any option that overrides sun or moon rendering and disable it.

Test and Adjust

Reload with F3 + T and look at the sky at noon and midnight. If the cubes appear under the shader, you are done. If not, disable the shader entirely to confirm the pack itself works, then re-enable shaders one setting at a time. Some shaders simply cannot coexist with custom sun and moon geometry — in that case, choose which look matters more to you and keep only one active.
