How to Build a Nether Portal Using Only Crying Obsidian
Gather Your Materials
You will need enough crying obsidian blocks to form a complete portal frame. A standard Nether portal frame is a vertical rectangle: two blocks wide and three blocks tall on the inside, meaning the frame itself uses fourteen blocks total (four on each long side, three on each short side, counting corners once). Crying obsidian is obtained by mining it in the Nether or through bartering with piglins. Bring a diamond or netherite pickaxe, since crying obsidian has the same mining requirements as regular obsidian.
Construct the Frame
Place your crying obsidian blocks in the same rectangular arrangement you would use for a vanilla portal. The corners can be included or left out depending on your build style, but the interior opening must remain two blocks wide and three blocks tall. Because this mod allows any mix of obsidian and crying obsidian, you can build the entire frame from crying obsidian alone. Once the frame is complete, light the interior with flint and steel, a fire charge, or any other standard ignition method. The portal will activate exactly like a vanilla one.
What to Expect
Your portal behaves identically to a normal Nether portal. It links to the Nether, follows the same coordinate scaling, and returns you to the Overworld. The only difference is the visual style: the frame glows with the purple tears of crying obsidian, making it stand out from ordinary portals.
