How to Use the Crosshair Indicator for Better Reach Judgement

Why reach feels inconsistent

In vanilla combat, players often swing too early because there is no clear feedback until the hit fails to register. The Crosshair Indicator Mod removes that guesswork by changing the crosshair the moment your aim is valid. This turns reach from something you estimate into something you can see.

Training your spacing

Find a stationary target — a friend standing still, or any entity you can safely approach. Walk toward it slowly and watch the crosshair. Note the exact moment it becomes hittable. Back away until it returns to unhittable. Repeat this a few times so your brain associates the visual change with a real distance. Then add movement: strafe left and right while keeping the crosshair on target, and watch how the state flickers at the edge of your range. In actual PvP, this means you can bait opponents by hovering just outside their reach, then step in when your own crosshair confirms you can connect. It also helps you avoid whiffing swings during knockback, since you will see immediately when a hit pushes the target out of your valid range. The habit to build is simple: do not click until the crosshair says you can.
