How to Troubleshoot the Crosshair Indicator Not Changing
First checks
If your crosshair never changes appearance, confirm the mod is actually loaded — check your mod list and make sure it is enabled and not disabled by a dependency problem. Next, verify you are testing against a valid target: the indicator is designed for player hitboxes, so aiming at terrain, mobs, or empty air may not trigger it. Stand close to another player and aim directly at their body.
Conflicts and config
A common cause is another mod or resource pack that also controls the crosshair. Crosshair-altering mods, custom crosshair packs, and HUD mods can all fight over the same rendering layer, and whichever loads last may win. Temporarily disable other crosshair-related mods or packs and test again. Also open the Crosshair Indicator config and check that the feature has not been switched off, and that the hittable and unhittable states have not been set to identical visuals — if both states look the same, the indicator will appear broken even though it is working. If you edited the config file by hand, re-check your syntax, since a malformed file can silently prevent the mod from applying settings. Finally, test in a fresh world with only this mod enabled to rule out interference before re-adding your other mods one at a time.
