Set Up a Keyboard Relay Pipe Organ
Understanding Traditional Mode
Traditional Mode configures your pipes to respond to keyboard input, just like a real pipe organ. The
tuning wrench places redstone links in receive mode and sets them to keyboard relay frequencies.
Steps to Build Your Organ
1. Arrange your Sound of Steam pipes in your desired layout
2. Hold the tuning wrench and press Alt + scroll wheel until you select a Traditional mode (Traditional Bottom, Traditional Face Away, or Traditional Face Towards)
3. Right-click each pipe with the wrench
4. The tool automatically places a redstone link two blocks below the pipe and configures it for keyboard input
5. Ensure you have enough redstone links in your inventory—the tool consumes one per pipe
6. Connect your keyboard relay system to the redstone links
7. Test by pressing keys to trigger the pipes
Choosing Your Mode
Traditional Bottom places links directly beneath pipes. Use this for simple, vertical organ builds.
Traditional Face Away and Traditional Face Towards orient the redstone links to face specific directions, useful when your relay system approaches from the side.
Each mode produces the same keyboard functionality—pick whichever fits your build's layout best.
