Set Up Your First Solar Heater
Finding
Salt
Salt generates naturally underground in hot biomes like deserts and savannas. Mine it with any pickaxe, or craft it if you prefer. You'll need at least a small amount to start your solar heating chain.
Placing and Operating the Heater
1. Place your
Solar Heater on the surface in direct sunlight with a clear view of the sky—no blocks overhead.
2. Insert salt into the heater's inventory.
3. During daylight hours, the heater will gradually melt the salt into
molten salt liquid.
4. Use pipes or fluid containers to extract the hot liquid.
Storing Heat
Connect your Solar Heater output to a
Heat Battery placed nearby. The battery stores molten salt and retains its temperature, letting you use the heat even after sunset. Position the Heat Battery next to a boiler to transfer warmth and generate
steam for your machines.
Tip: Build your heater in an open area away from trees and tall structures that cast shadows. More direct sunlight means faster salt melting and more consistent energy production throughout the day.
