Understanding Speed Trade-offs

Drill heads change how fast your tiered drill operates. Wood and stone heads are slower but may be useful early-game or for specific builds. Iron matches the original drill speed, making it a neutral choice. Gold, diamond, and netherite heads all speed up drilling—gold is the fastest at 2x speed, while diamond and netherite offer moderate boosts.

Selecting by Material Availability

Choose based on what you can craft:

• Early game: Stone or iron heads are practical since you'll have these materials first
• Mid game: Gold heads become viable and offer significant speed gains
• Late game: Diamond and netherite heads maximize efficiency for large-scale mining

Remember: drill heads only work with tiered drills from Create, not the standard drill. Craft the head separately, then attach it to your tiered drill. If you need Fortune or Silk Touch effects, you'll need to enchant the drill afterward using the appropriate dust or crystal material.
