How to Craft and Use Crates to Store Bulk Crops
Crafting a Crate
Crates in Crate Delight are the go-to block for bulk storage. Open your crafting grid and arrange the mod's crate ingredients in the pattern shown in the recipe book (JEI/REI will display it once you have the materials). Most crates follow a simple shape using wood planks plus a filler item, so keep a stack of planks on hand when you start a storage build.
Filling and Emptying
Place the crate like any block, then right-click it to open its inventory. Crates hold a single item type in large quantities, so they are ideal for apples, sweet berries, eggs, raw salmon, raw cod, glow berries, golden apples, mushrooms, carrots, and potatoes. Shift-click from your inventory to dump a whole stack at once. To pull items out, click the slot or shift-click into your hotbar.
Organizing a Farm Base
Line crates along a wall near your farm plots so harvested crops go straight in. Because each crate is dimensionally compact, you can pack many of them into a small room without the visual clutter of double chests. Label crates by placing a matching item frame or sign above each one. For mixed harvests, keep one crate per crop type rather than mixing, since crates are designed for bulk single-item storage. Break a crate with any tool to pick it up with its contents intact.
