Bags are the portable counterpart to crates. Craft one by combining leather with string in a crafting grid — the leather forms the body and string acts as the drawstring. The result is a single bag item you can carry in your inventory or place down.

What Bags Are For

Bags store compact bulk items such as cocoa beans, sugar, and gunpowder. They are smaller than crates and better suited to items you gather in moderate amounts rather than farm-scale quantities. Right-click a placed bag to open it, or use it directly from your hotbar depending on how you've placed it.

A practical workflow: keep a bag of gunpowder near your brewing stand for instant firework or TNT crafting, and a bag of sugar beside your cake and cookie station. Because bags are dimensionally compact, several can sit side by side on a single shelf block without eating much floor space. Shift-click to move whole stacks in and out quickly. When you need to relocate a bag, break it and it retains its contents, so you can carry a full bag of cocoa beans straight to a trading hall or kitchen without unpacking.
