Optimizing CotCotPack for Low-End Hardware
Reduce Resource Strain
CotCotPack is already compressed and optimized, but you can push performance further on older machines.
Step 1: Disable Animated Items
Navigate to your resource pack settings in-game. Look for animation toggles and disable animated item textures. This removes the performance cost of frame-by-frame item rendering without losing the pack's core aesthetic.
Step 2: Lower Colormap/Lightmap Resolution
If using OptiFine, access the resource pack's custom colormap and lightmap settings. Reduce their resolution from maximum to medium. This maintains the pack's atmospheric lighting while cutting GPU overhead.
Step 3: Disable 3D Models Selectively
The 3D model feature adds depth but costs performance. Disable 3D rendering for less-visible blocks (like ores deep underground) while keeping it for frequently-seen blocks like tools and weapons.
Step 4: Use Sodium Instead of OptiFine
If you haven't already, switch to Sodium for better raw performance. CotCotPack is fully compatible and runs noticeably smoother on lower-end systems.
Test Performance
After each change, load a world and monitor frame rate. Disable features until you reach your target FPS.
