Configuring Entity Filters in a CorgiLib-Based Mod
Entity filters are one of CorgiLib's shared systems: they let a mod decide which entities a feature applies to, and they're exposed through config so you can narrow or widen that set without touching code.
What a Filter Controls
A filter is essentially a rule set that an entity either matches or doesn't. Mods use them for things like which mobs a spawn tweak affects, which entities a mechanic ignores, or which creatures a block reacts to. The filter is evaluated per entity, so a broad filter affects more of the world and a narrow one affects less.
Editing a Filter Entry
Open the relevant .json5 config and find the filter section. You'll typically be adding or removing entries rather than writing logic. Add an entry to include an entity type; remove one to exclude it. Since the file is JSON5, you can comment out an entry with // to disable it temporarily while keeping the text for later.
Testing Your Change
After saving, reload the config or restart, then go find an instance of the entity you changed and observe whether the mod's behaviour still applies to it. Change one entry at a time — filters often interact, and a single edit is much easier to reason about than five. If nothing changes, confirm you edited the config the running instance actually loads.
