Use Copper Hoppers to Filter Tools and Armor

Filtering Enchanted Gear

Copper Hoppers can sort tools and armor just like regular items, but there's an important limitation: leave at least one empty slot in the hopper when filtering equipment. Tools and armor take up more NBT data, and the hopper needs breathing room to process them correctly.

Setting Up Tool Sorting

1. Place a Copper Hopper above a chest or barrel

2. Add one example of each tool or armor piece you want to sort (one pickaxe, one sword, one helmet, etc.)

3. Ensure at least one slot remains empty

4. Connect hoppers below to direct different gear types to separate storage

Why This Matters

This is especially useful for organizing enchanted loot from mining or mob farms. You can separate pickaxes from shovels, or sort armor by type without any complex redstone logic. The filter works on item type, not enchantments, so all pickaxes go to the same place regardless of their enchantments.
