Build a Vertical Item Sorter with Stacked Copper Hoppers
Understanding Hopper Priority
When you stack multiple Copper Hoppers vertically, lower hoppers pull items before upper hoppers push them. This creates a natural sorting hierarchy perfect for multi-stage sorters.
Building Your Sorter
1. Stack Copper Hoppers from bottom to top
2. Set different filters on each hopper (bottom hopper filters one item type, middle hopper filters another, etc.)
3. Place a container at the bottom to catch items that don't match any filter
4. Feed items into the top hopper
How It Sorts
Items flow downward through the stack. Each hopper grabs its filtered items before passing the rest down. The lowest hopper gets first pick, so arrange your most-sorted items at the bottom and least-sorted at the top.
This setup is much more compact than traditional redstone sorters and requires no redstone at all.
