How to Make Rain Sound Different in Each Room of Your Base
Understand What Drives the Sound
Cool Rain Mod picks a rain sound based on the block the raindrop lands on, not the block you stand on. That means the roof material above a room decides what you hear inside it. To get variety, vary your roof blocks per room instead of using one material everywhere.
Build Roofs With Intent
1. Pick a distinct roof material for each room you want to sound different. Glass, metal blocks, wool, foliage (leaves), and lava/magma each produce their own character.
2. Place the chosen block as the actual top surface exposed to the sky. A layer of dirt or stone above your glass will block the effect entirely.
3. Avoid covering the roof with a second material for decoration unless you accept its sound instead.
4. For open rooms, leave a gap so rain reaches the interior surface you want to hear.
Test and Adjust
Stand in each room during a storm and listen. If a room sounds wrong, check what block is directly under the falling rain. Swap that block, not the floor. Wool roofs give muffled impacts, metal gives sharp pings, glass taps softly, leaves rustle, and lava hisses. Mixing two or three of these across a base creates a natural soundscape as you walk between rooms.
