Why Islands Matter

Between continents, the mod generates many islands of varying sizes. These are not just scenery — they are rest stops, resource caches, and navigation markers on long ocean journeys.

Using Islands Effectively

1. Whenever you spot an island, land and set your spawn with a bed if you have one. This gives you a safe respawn point mid-ocean.

2. Scan the island quickly for resources: trees for boats and planks, stone for tools, and any structures or chests.

3. Climb to the highest point on the island and look around. From elevation you can often spot the next island or a distant continent silhouette.

4. Leave a marker — a torch pillar, a banner, or a note on your map — so you can find the island again if you backtrack.

5. Chain islands together: sail from one to the next rather than crossing open ocean blindly. This reduces the risk of getting lost or running out of supplies.

Safety Tips

  • Never sail at night without a bed unless you are prepared to fight drowned and other ocean mobs.
  • Keep a spare boat in your inventory; boats break easily on collision.
  • If you find a very large island, it may actually be a small continent — explore inland before assuming it is just a stopover.
