How to Find a Continent When You Spawn on an Island
Understand Your Spawn
With Continents Mod installed, you will always start on a medium-sized island rather than a large landmass. This is intentional — the mod wants you to experience the ocean crossing before reaching a continent. Your island will have enough resources (trees, stone, food) to survive, but you will not find every biome or structure here.
Plan Your Voyage
1. Gather basic supplies first: a boat, food, a bed, and a few stacks of blocks for bridging or scaffolding.
2. Craft a map (or use a modded map/minimap if you have one) and start filling it in as you explore. Continents are large, so you will need to travel a long distance.
3. Sail outward in a straight line. Because the mod generates vast oceans between landmasses, expect long stretches of open water before you spot a continent.
4. Watch for the coastline changing — a continent will have a much longer, more continuous shoreline than the small islands scattered through the ocean.
5. If you pass several small islands without hitting a large landmass, keep going in the same direction rather than zigzagging. Continents are separated by wide oceans, so persistence pays off.
What to Bring
Bring extra boats (they break), a bed to set spawn on any island you rest at, and enough food for several in-game days of sailing. Once you land on a continent, mark the coordinates so you can return.
