Fixing Filters That Aren't Hiding Messages

Check the basics first

If a message still shows up after you added a filter, confirm three things: the mod is actually loaded, you edited the correct config file, and you restarted the game or server after saving. Config changes are not applied live.

Verify the match type

Basic filters match substrings exactly as written, including capitalization and punctuation. If the real message says Can't keep up! and you typed cant keep up, it will not match. Copy the exact text from the console into the filter list.

Regex filters are stricter. A single unescaped backslash can break the whole pattern. In the config, whitespace is written as \s and a literal dot as \.. If your pattern contains brackets, parentheses, or plus signs meant literally, escape them too.

Watch for color codes and prefixes

Some console lines include formatting codes or log-level prefixes before the text you care about. A pattern anchored with ^ may fail because the line does not actually start with your text. Drop the anchor or add .* in front.

Isolate the problem

Temporarily reduce your filters to a single simple entry and test. Once that works, add entries back one at a time. This quickly reveals which pattern is malformed or which string has a typo.
