How to Reload Config Changes Without Restarting Minecraft
The Reload Command
Tweaking despawn values used to mean quitting to the main menu and reloading the world, but this mod adds a command that applies your edits on the fly. After you save the config file, open chat and type /cdt reload. The mod rereads the file and updates all timers immediately, so you can iterate quickly while testing.
Checking the Command Help
If you forget the syntax or want to see what else the command offers, type /cdt usage. This prints the available subcommands, including the reload option, so you always have a reference in-game without alt-tabbing to a wiki.
A Practical Testing Workflow
A good routine is to change one value at a time, save, run /cdt reload, then drop a test item and watch it. Because reloading does not reset the world, items already on the ground may keep their old timer until they despawn or are picked up, so spawn fresh test drops after each reload. If a change seems to have no effect, confirm the file was actually saved and that your edit used a valid number, since a malformed value can be ignored. Once everything behaves the way you want, you can leave the config alone and the settings persist across future sessions without any further commands.
