How to Give a Single Item Its Own Despawn Time

Locating the Per-Item List

The config file the mod generates includes a full list of item names, each with its own value. This is where you go when the global timer is fine for most things but one specific item needs different treatment, such as making rare drops last longer or clearing common junk faster.

Understanding the Three Value Types

Each entry accepts one of three kinds of number. A value of -1 tells the mod to fall back to your global despawn setting, which is the default for every item. A value of 0 makes that item never despawn, ideal for quest items or one-of-a-kind rewards you do not want lost. Any positive number sets a custom lifespan in ticks for that item alone, overriding the global value. Since 20 ticks equal a second, you can convert any real-world duration into the right number before typing it in.

Editing and Testing

Find the item you care about, replace its value, save the file, and run /cdt reload. Drop one of that item in a test world and time how long it lasts to confirm the rule is working. If it vanishes too early or lingers too long, recheck the number and make sure you edited the correct line, since item names must match exactly. You can mix rules freely, so a single config might have most items on the global timer, a few set to 0, and others with custom counts.
