How to Remove or Clear Color Blindness Effects in Minecraft

Clearing the Effect

If you applied a color blindness effect and want your normal vision back, you can remove it the same way you would clear any status effect. Open chat and use the effect clear command targeting yourself. The command is /effect clear followed by your player name, or simply /effect clear @s to target yourself. This removes all active status effects, including the color blindness simulation, and your screen will snap back to the vanilla color palette immediately.

Removing Only the Color Blindness Effect

If you have other beneficial effects active (like night vision or regeneration) and don't want to lose them, you should remove only the color blindness effect rather than clearing everything. Use the effect clear command but specify the exact color blindness effect identifier you applied. This lets you keep your other buffs while restoring normal color vision. The identifier must match the one you used when applying it, so remember which type you chose.

Waiting It Out

If you applied the effect with a duration rather than an infinite one, it will expire on its own after the timer runs out. You can check remaining time by looking at your status effect icons in the inventory screen. If you used an infinite duration effect, it will never expire naturally, so you must clear it manually. Note that dying and respawning may or may not clear the effect depending on how it was applied, so the command method is the most reliable way to remove it.
