How to Give Color Blindness Effects to Other Players on a Server
Targeting Another Player
As an operator or someone with command permissions, you can apply color blindness effects to other players on your server. Use the effect give command and replace the target selector with the other player's name. For example, /effect give PlayerName followed by the specific color blindness effect identifier. This is useful for pranks, roleplay scenarios, or helping players understand what color blindness looks like. The targeted player will immediately see their screen colors shift.
Using Target Selectors
Instead of typing a specific name, you can use target selectors to affect multiple players at once. @a targets all players, @p targets the nearest player, and @r targets a random player. This is handy if you want to apply the effect to everyone on the server for an event or experiment. Be careful with @a since it affects everyone including yourself. You can also combine selectors with arguments to narrow down who gets affected.
Permissions and Considerations
Only players with operator status or the appropriate permission level can run effect commands on others. If you're not an operator, you can only apply effects to yourself. Before applying color blindness to other players, consider whether it's welcome, since it changes their visual experience significantly and could be disorienting or uncomfortable. Always be ready to clear the effect if someone asks you to remove it. Use the clear command targeting that player to restore their normal vision.
