How to Apply Color Blindness Effects to Yourself in Minecraft

Using the Effect Command

To simulate color blindness on your own character, you need to apply one of the mod's custom status effects. Open the chat window and type the effect command followed by the specific color blindness type you want. The command structure is /effect give followed by the mod's effect identifier and the type name. For example, to experience green blindness, you would target the Deuteranopia effect. The mod registers each color blindness type as its own distinct effect, so you must specify exactly which one you want rather than a generic "colorblindness" effect.

Choosing Your Type

There are several types to pick from, each simulating a different form of color vision deficiency. Achromatomaly simulates color weakness, while Achromatopsia simulates full color blindness. Deuteranomaly and Deuteranopia affect green perception (weakness and blindness respectively), and Protanomaly and Protanopia affect red perception. Type the exact effect name after the give argument. If the effect applies successfully, your screen's colors will immediately shift to match that type's simulation. You can stack or switch between types by running the command again with a different effect name, though only one will visually dominate at a time.

Verifying It Worked

Once applied, look at colorful blocks like wool, flowers, or stained glass. The hues should appear noticeably different from vanilla. If nothing changes, double-check your spelling of the effect name, since the command is case-sensitive and must match the mod's registered identifiers exactly.
