Recruit and Command Your First Marine Squad

Finding Recruits

Colonial Marines spawn naturally in military structures scattered across your world, including supply depots and munitions outposts. You can also find them patrolling territories. Approach them peacefully—they won't attack on sight.

Recruiting and Leading

Interact with a marine to recruit them into your squad. Once hired, they become loyal to you as the squad leader. Marines will follow you automatically and carry gear in their 27-slot inventory. They equip the best armor available from your supplies, so stock nearby chests with quality gear.

Giving Orders

Use the squad interface (typically opened via a keybind) to command your marines. You can order them to:

• Follow you closely
• Hold position and defend an area
• Attack specific targets
• Return to a designated base location

Combat Support

During battle, marines heal themselves automatically when injured, so you don't need to micromanage their health. They'll use equipped weapons and armor effectively. Position them strategically around your settlement or base to maximize defensive coverage. Multiple marines work together, so build your squad gradually as you gather resources and find more recruits.
