Troubleshooting: Not Getting Player XP from Battles

Check the Basics First

If you win a battle but your player XP bar does not move, work through these checks in order.

1. Confirm the mod is actually loaded. If it is not present, battles will behave like normal Cobblemon with no player XP reward.

2. Make sure you actually won. Only victories grant XP; a draw, loss, or fleeing gives nothing.

3. Check whether the battle was a real Pokémon battle. Scripted events or non-standard encounters may not trigger the reward.

4. Look at your XP bar carefully. At high player levels, a single battle's XP may be a small fraction of a level and hard to notice. Fight several battles and compare before and after.

Check the Config

If the basics are fine, open the mod's config file in your config folder. It is possible the XP reward is disabled or set very low. Restore defaults or raise the value, save, and restart the game.

Check for Conflicts

Other mods that alter player XP gain, battle outcomes, or the Cobblemon battle flow can interfere. Try testing with only Cobblemon and PlayerXP enabled to isolate the problem. On servers, remember the config lives on the server — editing your client copy will not change server-side rewards. If battles still give no XP after all of this, re-read the config comments; they usually explain each option.
