Using CleanCut to Hit Mobs Hidden in Tall Grass

The problem in tall grass

Mobs standing in tall grass or flower patches are annoying to hit because your swings keep cutting the plants. CleanCut is built exactly for this: it lets your attack pass through non-solid vegetation so you damage the mob directly.

Practical combat steps

1. Approach until the mob is within your attack reach. Do not swing from far away.

2. Keep your crosshair on the mob's body rather than on the grass blades in front of it.

3. Attack normally. The plant is ignored because it has no collision, and the hit lands on the living entity.

4. Follow up with repeated swings; each one traces through the vegetation as long as you stay in range.

Tips for mob farms and hunting

  • In dense flower fields, aim slightly downward toward the mob's hitbox, since flowers can visually obscure it.
  • If a mob is partly behind a solid block, reposition so only non-solid plants remain between you.
  • Remember the target must be living and collide-able, so this works on animals and monsters but not on non-living entities.

This makes clearing grass-heavy biomes and defending against mobs in overgrown terrain much smoother, since you no longer waste swings breaking plants.
