How to Attack Through Grass and Flowers with CleanCut

Why your hits get blocked by plants

Tall grass, ferns, flowers, saplings, and similar non-solid plants normally intercept your swing, so your sword hits the plant instead of the mob behind it. CleanCut changes this by letting your attack pass through blocks that have no collision. The mod checks three things when you swing: you must be within reach of the target, the block in the way must have no collision (or zero hardness), and the entity must be living and collide-able.

Steps to land the hit

1. Stand so the mob is inside your normal attack reach. If you are too far, the swing still fails even with a clear line.

2. Aim roughly at the mob, not at the plant. Because the plant has no collision, CleanCut ignores it and traces to the entity.

3. Left-click to attack as usual. You should see the mob take damage and knockback instead of the grass breaking.

4. If it still fails, check that the obstruction is truly non-solid. A block with collision (stone, wood, fences) will still stop the hit.

Common mistakes

Attacking from outside reach is the most frequent cause of a failed hit. Also remember that only living, collide-able entities qualify, so item frames, boats, and similar non-living targets behave differently. Clear a one-block gap if you are unsure whether the block counts as non-solid.
